Heather M. McMills | Managing Partner
Heather M. McMills has managed and advised on fixed income and equity portfolios for private individuals, families, and institutions for 15 years, on assets totaling over a quarter billion dollars at A.G. Edwards, Credit Suisse, and Bank of America. With deep transaction and portfolio operations experience, Heather’s unique approach to investment advisory and portfolio management places the utmost importance on client advocacy and manager accountability.
A member of a three generation San Francisco Bay Area family, Heather returned to San Francisco in 1999. During this time, Heather explored investments in alternative markets–including in a small San Francisco restaurant serving Mediterranean foods.
More recently, Heather co-founded McKean&McMills Family Office, an independent wealth advisory firm serving high net worth individuals & institutions as a private fiduciary. She co-founded the Firm in 2008 as an answer to the immediate need for investor advocacy and responsible asset management.
Responsibilities profile: Investment policy, strategy, and portfolio management. Forensic research, auditing, and valuation. Serve as trustee or successor trustee for trusts and decedent estates: managing alternative assets, real estate, and liquid assets. Manage tax, legal, and financial facets pertaining to clients’ trusts or estates.
Heather studied at the University of California, San Diego. Heather currently holds a license as a Registered Investment Advisor (IA).
Kenneth McKean | General Partner
Kenneth McKean, General Partner of McKean&McMills Family Office, has attained over a decade of experience in financial services as a trustee, conservator and estate planner. Kenneth was one of the first to become a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary (CLPF), and is a Professional Engineer (PE) and Registered Investment Advisor (IA). Kenneth co-launched McKean&McMills Family Office Partners in 2008, in response to trustors’ and investors’ increasing needs for trustee and wealth management services. McKean&McMills Family Office has been a natural evolution from Kenneth’s 25 years of trustee, business operating, and real estate investment and transaction experience. Kenneth is a member of a five generation San Francisco Bay Area family.

Kenneth studied electrical engineering, biomedical engineering and finance and marketing at UC Berkeley, Duke, and North Carolina Universities earning BS, MS and MBA degrees. After his earning his MBA, Kenneth returned from North Carolina to pursue a career in Silicon Valley working in the high-tech areas of defense electronics, telecommunications and medical imaging. During this time, he held management positions in marketing, finance, production, strategic planning, sales and engineering. As the founder, President and CEO of T/R Communications he was responsible for all operations, product and production line design, legal and regulatory affairs, and human resources.
